By joining the Confluentes Network, your individual donation combines with contributions from other members, transforming into a collective and strategic action that channels significant resources to organizations driving structural change in society.
As part of an exclusive circle of leaders, executives, entrepreneurs, innovators, and opinion makers, you’ll strengthen a network committed to social transformation and to building a fairer and more equal future.
Members also gain access to immersive experiences and private events, where they can exchange ideas with renowned academics, politicians, activists, artists, and other experts. All funds raised through Confluentes Network donations are fully and exclusively directed to the selected NGOs, ensuring your contribution has a real and measurable impact.
All of our internal costs — including the Confluentes Festival, network events, staff compensation, and operational and administrative expenses — are covered through institutional partnerships and grants.
This guarantees that 100% of donations made by Confluentes members go directly to the selected organizations.
Confluentes is an initiative of the Betty and Jacob Lafer Institute, founded in partnership with a group of prestigious institutions and foundations in Brazil and abroad, which today form its supporting network:
Oak Foundation, Open Society Foundations, Fundação Tide Setubal, Instituto Galo da Manhã, Instituto Ibirapitanga, Luminate, and Wealth Inequality Initiative / Julius Baer Foundation.
Our internal costs — including the Festival, member events, team compensation, and administrative expenses — are covered by our institutional partners.
In the case of specific events like the Confluentes Festival, we also establish partnerships and sponsorships with organizations and companies.
This ensures that all funds raised through Network donations go exclusively to the selected NGOs.
The Network supports initiatives that promote a fairer and more equal Brazil, focusing on:public policy improvement; environmental conservation; reduction of social inequality; racial equity; women’s rights and empowerment; Indigenous, quilombola, and traditional peoples’ rights; LGBTQIA+ rights; democracy and civic participation; equality in the justice system; public security; innovation and technology for the public good; freedom of expression and access to information; independent media; and healthy and sustainable food systems — among others.
On average, we support three organizations each year, although this number may vary depending on the annual selection process, the size of the Network, and the total amount raised.

Each year, based on recommendations from Network members, we select three priority causes among our areas of focus.
From there, we receive nominations from our institutional funders — including some of Brazil’s and the world’s leading foundations and institutes.
Our team then conducts a rigorous evaluation process, including research and interviews, to identify the organizations best aligned with the most urgent causes of the moment and with the highest capacity to generate impact using the funds raised by the Network.
To be eligible, an organization must have been funded by at least one of our institutional partners — ensuring credibility and proven track record.
Once selected, organizations receive one year of support from the Network.
There is no fixed date for disbursement, as donation volumes depend on the number of members and total funds raised.
We aim to reach a minimum meaningful threshold before each transfer.
Disbursements typically occur three to four times per year.
Strategic philanthropy seeks to create deep and lasting change in social and environmental challenges, rather than providing short-term or superficial solutions.
It focuses on systemic issues such as social justice, reduction of inequality, racial equity, strengthening democracy, and environmental preservation.
These causes matter because they affect all of us.
Many of the decisions that shape our daily lives — such as public policies and social rights — are made collectively.
Supporting organizations that influence these decisions helps ensure they serve the common good and advance progress for society as a whole.
