The Confluentes Festival is a space for encounter, dialogue, and the collective shaping of ideas for a more democratic and plural Brazil.
Created as a moment of convergence among diverse voices and perspectives, the event brings together journalists, academics, activists, and experts each year in São Paulo to discuss the most pressing issues of contemporary society.
Each edition explores themes such as the future of democracy, the impact of technology on public life, the challenges of equity, and the importance of climate justice.
With a dynamic format, the festival combines panel discussions, mini-TED talks, and interviews designed to encourage knowledge exchange and critical reflection. Alongside the debates, it also features cultural performances and visual exhibitions that expand participants’ understanding of today’s challenges and opportunities.
Since its first edition in 2022, the Confluentes Festival has deepened the public debate around essential issues for Brazilian society.
The inaugural edition, themed “Brazil, What Now? Democracy, Transformation, and New Perspectives,” explored the country’s political, economic, and media challenges in the post-election context.
In 2023, the second edition focused on “Democracy and Equity in the Digital Age,” addressing the intersections between technology and democracy and their political, social, and cultural implications.
The 2024 edition, “Conversations on a Plural and Democratic Brazil,” reflected on political polarization, judicial equity, artificial intelligence, and climate change.
Most recently, in 2025, under the theme “Possible Futures,” the festival brought together leading voices from science, technology, and journalism — to inspire hope and imagination for the paths ahead.
